Everything you need to know about clinical supervision at Banksia from rates and scheduling to qualifications and what to expect.
Clinical supervision is a professional support process that helps clinicians enhance their skills, navigate challenging cases, and maintain their wellbeing. Research shows it significantly decreases the risk of burnout, moral injury, compassion fatigue, and impostor syndrome. As a clinician, supervision helps you feel more confident and effective in your work while protecting your personal wellbeing.
Our supervision services are specifically designed for Social Workers, Psychotherapists (both Registered and Qualifying), and Counsellors. We specialize in supporting professionals who want to thrive in their practice while maintaining work-life balance.
We offer several formats to meet different needs:
• Individual Supervision (one-on-one sessions)
• Dyadic Supervision (with a partner of your choice or matched with another clinician)
• Drop-in Dyadic Supervision (for those without a regular partner)
• Group Supervision (both open virtual groups and closed series)
Open groups allow participants to join on a drop-in basis without any ongoing commitment. These groups are ideal if you need flexibility in your schedule or want to try group supervision before committing to a closed series. They're perfect for decreasing isolation while maintaining scheduling freedom. They are also perfect for those looking to add some extra supervision hours or to be exposed to a variety of different therapists and expertise.
Closed groups consist of the same members meeting regularly over a set period (typically monthly for several months). These groups build deeper connections, trust, and community among participants. The consistent membership allows for stronger relationships to develop, which enhances the learning experience. As Sarah often says, "The connection and community that builds throughout the series is one of my favorite aspects of group supervision."
External supervision (outside your workplace) provides several unique benefits:
1. Confidential space to discuss workplace challenges without concerns about internal politics or worrying about being vulnerable with your supervisor who is also your manager
2. Fresh perspectives from someone who isn't invested in your group practice or organization's dynamics
3. Freedom to be vulnerable about professional doubts, fears, or challenges
4. Targeted support for your specific growth areas and career aspirations
5. Networking opportunities with other professionals in your field
6. Protection against burnout and compassion fatigue through regular, dedicated support
7. For qualifying practitioners, ensuring your supervision meets regulatory requirements
External supervision complements internal supervision by giving you a more holistic support system for your professional growth.
In our sessions, we can address a wide range of topics including case consultations, ethical discussions, professional development, psycho-education, private practice challenges, workplace stressors, or personal wellbeing concerns. We create a safe, judgment-free environment where you can be vulnerable about your professional practice concerns.
